After “the North East’s newest seductive songstress” supported the likes of Newton Faulkner, Butch Walker, Willy Mason, Lucy Rose and Jake Bugg (to name a few) in 2012, Amy Holford is looking forward to writing and concentrating on her music to bring it to a larger audience for 2013. She’s kicked up quite a stir as one of the ‘best live vocalists in the North East,’ as well as her songs being described as ‘sardonic and temptress whisperings.’ Merely in the last year, this 21 year old unapologetic young lady is ‘beginning to blaze a trail with honest lyrics, a simple sound, and a voice that leaves rooms silent…[with] blistering vocals and earnest truth.’ Amy has appeared on Amazing Radio as ‘one of the best voices that we’ve ever heard in the studio,’ (Greg Porter, Amazing Afternoons) as well as the BBC Introducing show on BBC Newcastle with Nick Roberts in 2012. Her song ‘You Run’ was also played recently on BBC Radio 1 on the Jen & Ally show.
Amy’s voice is the constant; her music an ever changing expression of her self.
Amidst all of her recent hometown success however is ‘a refusal to be categorised and compartmentalised and ignored…’ indicating there is a lot more in store that listeners haven’t heard yet…
